A reputable Manchester-based nutrition bar company approached our CGI render studio with an exciting project: creating striking product renders for their diverse range of seven flavors. Equipped with a clear vision of their desired angles, styles, and artwork, they sought our expertise in bringing their packaging and nutrition bars to life.
Challenge
Our primary task was to construct a photorealistic 3D representation of the product's packaging, faithfully capturing its form and intricate details. Utilizing the client's artwork, we meticulously crafted a 3D model of the packaging, simulating its true-to-life dimensions and ensuring flawless accuracy. Employing advanced techniques, we even simulated the folding of the flat pack model to replicate the genuine thickness and structure of the physical packaging. To complete the scene, we faced the challenge of creating a visually captivating arrangement of the nutrition bars. Using 3DS Max, we skillfully modeled a single wrapped bar, meticulously capturing its basic dimensions and visual references. Employing bump maps, we achieved realistic wrapper ends, enhancing the overall authenticity of the renders.
Solutions
A critical step in our process was UV unwrapping, enabling us to accurately apply the artwork to the appropriate areas of both the box and the bars. By seamlessly mapping the artwork onto the 3D models, we achieved a level of precision that truly showcased the uniqueness of each flavor. Thanks to this efficient workflow, we swiftly mapped the seven different sets of artwork onto the respective models, ensuring a quick turnaround for the entire project. To align with the client's desired style, we meticulously replicated the clean white environment showcased in their reference shots, with a subtle shadow subtly enhancing the product's visual impact. By providing the renders with alpha channels, we offered the client the flexibility to showcase their product in three distinct ways: as a cutout with no environment, against a white background in a square aspect ratio, with or without the addition of a shadow.
